Do I have to have a credit card to rent a car?

Triangle has several ways to qualify a rental customer and having a credit card is just one way. Below is a brief explanation. You will find more information in our Rental Guideline under Payment Methods. 1. Credit Card in the renter's name. Renter must have personal liability and collision coverage that will transfer to the rented vehicle for the following:

1. Debit Card in the renter's name.
2. Renter 21 to 24 using a Debit or Credit Card.

Cash renters are welcome but must meet the following requirements:

1. Personal Liability and Collision coverage transferable
2. Good Credit
3. Landline phone in renter's name
4. Employed at same business for the past six months.
5. Checking or savings account in renter's name.

Can I use my Mom's credit card?

I'm afraid not. The renter must present a credit card in their name.

Do you charge for mileage?

All of our locations offer unlimited mileage if you are traveling East of the Mississippi River. If you need to travel West of the Mississippi River we can still rent to you but would need to know the total estimated miles you will be traveling round trip to determine the rate. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find it isn't too much of an increase.

Can others drive the vehicle I rent?

Only if they are listed on the contract. At the time of your rental you will be asked if there will be a need to add additional renters. Our agents would have to see the driver's license of each person to be listed. There would be a charge of $10.00 per day per each additional renter. Each additional renter would have to meet our requirements to rent.

What happens if I'm involved in an accident?

Your safety and the safety of your passengers is the first consideration. Address those needs and at the first opportunity contact Triangle Rent A Car to report the accident. Our agents will instruct you in what needs to be done next. Whenever possible get an accident report from a law enforcement agency.

Do I need to purchase your insurance?

You are not required to purchase any of our optional coverage. However we do strongly recommend that you check with your personal insurance agent to determine if you may want to purchase coverage. Your agent is the best resource you have to determine your needs. Check out our Rental Guidelines for more information on our optional coverage and your responsibility while renting the vehicle

Will you place charges on my credit card when I make a reservation?

No charges will go on your credit card until you pick up the rental. At time of rental we will place an authorization on your credit card for the estimated charges plus a deposit of $100.00. This is simply a hold and will freeze the funds. If you are using a Debit Card at time of rental we actually get a payment on your card. This means the funds will be immediately deducted from your checking account. If you return the vehicle early any credit will be adjusted.
