Rising Prices at the Pump Fuel Anger
Usually when you’ve heard something once, that’s enough; anything more than that just becomes repetitive and annoying. However, as much as we have now heard about the rising gas prices and other plethora of problems surrounding the fuel pump and oil prices, it just never seems to get old. I would love to stop talking about gas prices, but it really is becoming absurd. Just last week, I paid almost $70 to fill up my car, which wasn’t even on empty! Well, if you’re upset about the price of gas as well as the direction it is heading in, you are certainly not alone.
According to an article in Time Magazine, some consumers have noticed that they are paying for gas that they never get. For example, have you ever used a gas pump where the pump seems to hesitate for a split second even though you have the handle squeezed? Supposedly, anywhere from 2 to 6 cents are being lost before the gasoline actually starts pumping into your vehicle. According to the article, tests done by local regulator are actually allowing pumps to charge as much as 6 cents more than the gas delivered in a five-gallon test. So, who do we point the finger at now? As it is, we’re already paying a ton of money for gasoline!
Who is to Blame?
Apparently, the gas is not the problem. The problem lies in the fact that the “check valve” at the pump wears out and goes unnoticed. Additionally, many counties require or suggest that the pumps be inspected every six months. However, short staffing at many gas stations have prevented this from happening. If you think about it, even if you are charged a few pennies extra than what you actually ended up pumping, if you picture several other hundreds of people using that gas station throughout the day, that penny would add up quickly. This problem is compounded by the aggravation that consumers are already feeling with the rising gas prices. After all, gas prices in the United States, on average, are approximately 66 cents higher than last year and show now signs of going down any time soon.
Perhaps the store owners with the faulty pumps should start reimbursing customers.

[...] Rising prices at the pump are fueling anger among consumers. It’s no secret that Americans are annoyed at the fact that the prices at the pump keep rising. Just three days ago, I paid almost 70 dollars for a full tank of gas and my gas tank is already almost half empty again! What are people to do? It seems that the prices are rising faster than the solutions or the amount of money that people are being paid to cover such expenses as gas prices. Couple that with the high price of health insurance and suddenly, you’ve found yourself in quite the predicament. If you’re looking to save a few dollars in the meantime, try carpooling, using mass transportation or trading your current gas guzzler in for a more economical vehicle. However, if you’re like me and you have even a small SUV, good luck getting that vehicle traded in because it would seem that no one wants it! And rightly so. After all, if I can get a car that will save me 200 bucks a month in car payments and an additional couple of hundred bucks a month in gas, who am I kidding? [...]

Could someone explain me why the price of fuel at the pump keep rising while the price of crude oil is near the double digit?
Guy, I know that after all the Ike hub-bub prices were driven up. India, China, and fuel speculators seem to be driving up the price as well…no pun intended. I cannot wait for a drop asap.
Well, the oil price/barrel fluctuates around $40 in the last 2 mo, but these scumbags at the pumps started to rise the price noticeably, what would be a reason for that, ahhh the election is over.1
Complain, but it seems that our government just can not hear us. We are going to have to come together as one to be heard. Alaska’s citizen’s get royalties from their oil & gas revenue from every new-born child to the eldest in that State. Why do the rest of our country not get it? Because Alaska’s Small Business Stuck Together. Senator’s and Congressmen are getting all of our money and as you can see do not even pay taxes. The Oil & Gas is being sucked right out of the veins under your property, your land its your money but they are getting it. They do not want you to know how Alaska took their rights back from the government. Check into it and lets stick together and win back what is rightfully ours!
“We The People”, Can have change in fuel prices in government or what ever we choose but we have to do it together as one. “Stand Together” Fight Back, Look at Exxon/ Mobil, reported almost 50 Billion dollars in “Profit” How much did they not report? But look what an impact it has had on our ecomomy our jobs our people. If we do not come together we are doomed my friend. We need to do it now!
