NPR Journalist’s Car Bombed

I didn’t realize that Iraqi terrorists were big fans of the Godfather trilogy. As one reporter for NPR found out the hard way…they must be. Apparently the journalists for NPR were conducting interviews before returning to their vehicle, at which point the following series of events occurred, according to NBC12 News:

After doing interviews in a cafe, they were stopped by Iraqi soldiers who said they’d been just been told there was a bomb underneath the armored vehicle. It exploded with the team of journalists about 15 feet away. No one was hurt. Iraqi soldiers say a man with suspected family ties to al-Qaida has been arrested.

This story might come as a reminder to try to be safe on the roads this Holiday season. Even though you may not have any bombs strapped to your vehicle (and if you do I recommend hiring someone you don’t like to start your car for you) this is a dangerous time of year to be on the road. Depending on where you live you have snow and ice to combat, as well as the hoards of pesky Holiday shoppers. So be careful on the roads and just try to remember…the roads could be worse. Just ask NPR’s news staff.
