In the last post, I talked about how I had been giving some thought to driving home using a rental car instead of my personal vehicle. Well, keeping in line with that thinking, I began to come up with reasons why someone might rent a car versus drive their own. Here are five reasons why:

1. Car Rental Specials: Who can resist a good deal, especially if it makes sense?  In this day and age, everyone’s looking to save money.  Research the different car rental agencies out there and make an informed decision!
2. Wear and Tear:  Let’s be honest with ourselves.  Most people renting a car are doing so because they don’t want to put the same wear-and-tear on their own vehicle(s), which may or may not be able to withstand the rigors of long-distance driving.
3. Size:  For a lot of us renting cars, size is an issue.  Either, we want to upgrade to something bigger because we’re traveling with a large group of people, or we are looking to downsize to something smaller that will be more fuel-efficient.
4. Company Meetings: For some of us, renting a car goes hand-in-hand with something we’re doing as a company.  For instance, if you’re taking a new client out to lunch at a nice restaurant and the last person to sit in your vehicle was Fido, your dog…you may be looking around at various car rental companies!
5. Flying in From Somewhere: People travel all the time.  However, this doesn’t mean that they take their personal vehicles with them.  The first thing that most of us do when we are traveling someplace where we expect to stay longer than a week is rent a car.
