Are Segways Safe?
Recently, I came across an article written over at Autobloggreen, that talked about the effects of Segways crashing into vehicles. Some really fascinating stuff too!
For those of you who are still somewhat clueless as to what a Segway is, the following is a definition taken from WordWebOnline.
Segway: a self-balancing personal transportation device with two wheels; can operate in any level pedestrian environment.
Cool, But How Safe Are They?
According to German authorities, the Segway is not that safe at all. In fact, after it ran some crash tests on it, they found it to be extremely unsafe. The tests consisted, for the most part, of crashing the Segway into a parked car while the Segway was travelling at 10 miles per hour. The whole point of the test (which can be seen below) is to reiterate the point that any vehicle can prove unsafe when operated recklessly or carelessly. Despite the fact that this video is in German, it still makes this all extremely clear.
